There are no specific details at this time regarding what games could be included in these trilogies. It is speculated that the collections will consist of the three games from each series release during the last console generation. That means for Prince of Persia we could get: The Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones. For Splinter Cell it would be: Splinter Cell, Pandora Tomorrow, and Chaos Theory. Just keep in mind that these collections have not been confirmed as real by Ubisoft, so the above titles are just a guess by the gaming community. As of right now the PlayStation 3 is the only console mentioned for these collections, but I imagine this would also come out for the Xbox 360 unless an exclusivity deal was struck by Sony.
“I’ll give you confirmation. I read in out pre-order book today; “Splinter Cell Trilogy HD Classics”. I’ll get you the date for it tomorrow. Dead excited! :D”
While it is possible that this news is fake, it sounds like something that Ubisoft would be considering. With Splinter Cell: Conviction and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands already released earlier in the year, that leaves Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood as Ubisoft’s only HD console release for the holidays. Ubisoft may be looking to add these collections to their line-up to capitalize on the numerous delays across the industry that have pushed several big games to 2011. Releasing these collections in November, which are probably cheap to produce, could allow Ubisoft to keep these franchises in the focus of the consumers and possibly make some decent sales numbers with the lack of competition.
