Wang “Ame” Chunyu has been removed from PSG.LGD’s active Dota 2 roster, LGD Gaming announced earlier today. The 22-year-old has been transferred to CDEC Gaming, and traded out for former CDEC carry Lai “Ahjit” Jay Son. This is the first major roster move for PSG.LGD since 2018.

Wang “Ame” Chunyu first signed with LGD Gaming’s main Dota 2 squad in 2016. The team found some form the following year, winning Mars Dota 2 League 2017 and placing fourth at The International. PSG.LGD hit their stride in 2018, placing second at the Dota 2 Asia Championships before winning EPICENTER XL and the MDL Changsha Major. Ame quickly made his name as one of the best carry players in the scene.

PSG.LGD placed third at the China Dota 2 Supermajor, the last event before The International 2018. The team went into TI8 as the third-ranked team in the Dota Pro Circuit standings. A favorite to lift the Aegis, Ame and co. fell short as they lost to OG in the Grand Final.

The team stayed together for the 2019 season, placing in the top six at every DPC Major during the year. LGD topped their group at The International 2019, and cruised through the play-offs until their loss to OG in the upper bracket final. They fell to Team Liquid in the lower bracket final, ending their TI9 run in third place.

PSG.LGD took a brief break at the start of the 2019-20 DPC season, skipping the MDL Chengdu Major cycle. They returned with the same roster for the DreamLeague Season 13 Major, though were eliminated in the open qualifiers. They appeared on LAN at the WESG China Finals where they placed first, and at the ONE Esports World Pro Invitational, where they bowed out in 9-10th place. The team has now announced their decision to replace Ame ahead of the ESL One Los Angeles Major open qualifiers, which are set to take place next week.

Taking Ame’s spot on PSG.LGD is 21-year-old CDEC carry Lai “Ahjit” Jay Son. Ahjit has been active in the professional Dota 2 scene since 2015, previously representing Fnatic and Mineski, among others. Though former rosters struggled to find consistent success, Ahjit won DreamLeague Season 10 under the Tigers banner, and placed second at ESL One Mumbai with Mineski.

Ahjit is expected to make his PSG.LGD debut during the ESL One Los Angeles Major open qualifiers, which are scheduled to start on February 12th. Ame will compete with CDEC in the Major’s closed qualifier, which will begin on the 14th.
