Razer, makers of gaming controllers and peripherals, last night unveiled its newest piece of hardware – a smartphone with a Razer logo plastered on the back.

The Razer Phone is being dubbed ‘The Ultimate in Mobile Entertainment’ and the company claims it’s been designed specifically with gamers in mind. It features ‘the world’s first 120 Hz UltraMotion™ display’ using the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile chip and 8GB of RAM.

It runs on Android Nougat with Oreo expected to land in Spring 2018. Dual rear 12MP cameras, presumably so you can get that perfect ‘I-just-leaped -off-the-top-of-a-pyramid-in-Assassin’s-Creed-Origins’ selfie and an in-built ‘Razer Game Booster’ app to allow players to fine tune their experiences.

Credit where it’s due too, Razer’s gone to a lot of effort to make partnerships with some respected names for the phone’s launch with names like Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition from Square Enix and BANDAI NAMCO’s Tekken named in the press release though specifics of how these partnerships will manifest are a little hazy.

To wrap up, Razer also announced a limited edition version of the phone although as far as I can tell the only difference is the Razer logo on that one will be green instead of chrome. There will be 1337 sets of the special edition made available because of course.

The Razer Phone will set you back £699 in the UK and will only be available on the Three Network at launch, November 17.
