Say, that’s a nice Cleaver you have there. It’d be a shame if it… suddenly disappeared from your inventory with no explanation or hope of buying another from the store.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game that needs no introduction. Its intricately crafted world is one of dizzying scope and boundless possibilities, setting a new standard for what can be done with open-world titles. Its online mode may not have taken off in the same way as Grand Theft Auto V’s did (it’s a very different sort of gaming experience, after all), but there’s no denying that the game is a stunning achievement.
Is it perfect, though? Absolutely not, as no game ever can be. As is always the case with such sprawling, ambitious titles, it’s been plagued by bugs, from the odd little graphical issues to more serious matters. When it comes to glitches and such, some of the worst ones are those that prevent players from achieving 100% completion, a feat which has become a point of pride for many in all kinds of games. If this is your goal in Red Dead Redemption 2, heed this player’s tragic story and don’t steal that Cleaver in Chapter 6.
As RDR2.org reports, a new bug seems to have come to light that concerns a weapon disappearing from a player’s inventory and said weapon’s entry disappearing from the Compendium. The player, named as Leanne Lawson, grabbed the Cleaver from a Chapter 6 mission rather than purchasing it. They then noticed that it couldn’t be selected or equipped, and its Compendium entry (which they received on picking it up, as usual) also vanished entirely. Worse, they couldn’t simply buy another, as the Fence listed it as 1/1 already.
The Cleaver might not be the biggest loss, but this means that the player is locked out of completing the Compendium. According to the report, other players have had this issue in rare cases, only when the Cleaver was obtained in this way rather than brought. Rockstar have acknowledged the issue only in the form of a generic support response, so we don’t currently know whether they’re working to resolve it. In the meantime, it seems it’s best to play it safe and buy that Cleaver.
