Recently, Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 received an update that added a nice little Resident Evil 3 Remake Easter egg regarding Jill Valentine. Specifically, the Easter egg is in the form of an achievement called “Chasing Jill” and tasks players with finding a letter left behind the RE 3 protagonist. However, that is not the only Easter egg that was added, since a far more sinister one was placed as well, albeit only in the demo for the game.
In order to celebrate the announcement of Resident Evil 3 Remake, Capcom has re-released the demo for Resident Evil 2. Players who wish to get into the game, currently have the ability to try out the free demo and see just how much the remake has improved from the original. But the re-released demo isn’t the same old demo that players got to experience before the full game came out. Aside from removing the “One-Shot” stipulation (where players can only play the demo once and for 30 minutes), Capcom added Nemesis as well.
For anyone who has ever played the original Resident Evil 3, they know just how terrifying and intimidating Nemesis can be. The fact that Resident Evil 2 demo players can hear the iconic “STARS” phrase, already gives a taste of what’s to come when Resident Evil 3 Remake releases. STARS, or Special Tactics and Rescue Service, is a special unit of the Raccoon Police Department to which Jill belongs, thus making her (and other members as well) Nemsis’ target throughout the game.
The Nemesis Easter egg is only exclusive to the beta, meaning that the full game does not have him in it. Additionally, players can only hear Nemesis, but not see him in the beta (for obvious reasons). Nonetheless, it’s a nice little teaser of what will happen in the future.
Resident Evil 3 Remake will launch on April 3, 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will be bundled with Resident Evil Resistance – a 1 vs 4 multiplayer experience, either as an extra mode, or as some may argue, additional content to compensate for Resident Evil 3 Remake’s length. Still, that will not stop fans from re-experiencing the game from the ground up.
