Capcom has announced that the Switch re-releases of Resident Evil 5 and 6 will use gyroscopic and motion controls to be added by a launch day patch.
At E3 2019, Nintendo’s showcase revealed that Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 would be arriving on the Switch this year. Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 4 are also on the portable platform, so this rounds out the series quite nicely. Over here, we’re still waiting for Resident Evil 7 on the Switch though, as that re-release was exclusive to Japan.
Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 will release for the Nintendo Switch on October 29.
Much like Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag on Switch, I imagine that the controls will let players aim and align their shots and Capcom has said this option will be ‘giving you even more control over how you play’. Still no news of a motion control patch for Resident Evil 4, and that would be an amazing addition to a fan favourite. Maybe after Project Resistance has been hustled and bustled out of early access, a team of developers could take a look at how that might work on the Switch.
Heads-up, RE fans: Resident Evil 5 and 6 on Nintendo Switch will each include a patch at launch that includes gyroscopic and motion controls, giving you even more control over how you play.
