Update: The developer of Nesbox has now released an HTML5 build of its Universal Emulator, making it possible use the app via the Xbox One’s Edge browser. Simply navigate to http://test.nesbox.com/xbox/ and you’re good to go.

Support for Rom loading from OneDrive will be added soon.

Original report: After covering us all in wave of nostalgia with the thought that a retro emulator was heading to Xbox One, this joy turned out to be short lived.

Nesbox doesn’t look like it’ll be launching for Xbox One after all.

A tweet posted by Nesbox over the weekend reads: “Microsoft says: “Your product was unpublished globally or from specific markets”. They want me to remove xbox platform support and republish”

The developer had hoped the new universal platform would enable the emulator to be released on Xbox One, with the app even passing certification. However, a last minute objection has scuppered an Xbox One release.

Nothing more to see here. Move on.
